NEW YORK: In August, TF1's The Voice Kids was the show that generated the most buzz in social media, with some 353,000 tweets, according to new data from The WIT.

The Voice Kids is a local adaptation of the talent competition format that first aired in the Netherlands on RTL4, spun off from The Voice. The August 23 broadcast on TF1 in France delivered 353,000 tweets, with the common hashtags #AmazingTalent, #KidPower, #BuzzFor6YearOldGloria and #SoCute.

The second most-buzzed-about broadcast was Scotland Decides: Salmond versus Darling, which aired August 25 on BBC Two in the U.K. The debate between First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond and British MP Alistair Darling ahead of the forthcoming Scottish independence referendum, in front of a studio audience of 200 people, delivered around 196,000 tweets. Notable hashtags included #Live, #BurningSocietyIssue and #YesWins.

Another TF1 show made the list, Grégory Lemarchal, une voix d'ange depuis 10 ans. Having aired August 16, it was a tribute show to the late Grégory Lemarchal, a 23-year-old French singer who rose to fame in 2003 when he won season four of the singing competition Star Academy. The broadcast drew around 67,000 tweets, with #FanPower, #Moving and #StarFilled among the hashtags.

Kalp Hirsizi on ATV Turkey drew 46,000 tweets with its August 31 airing. The drama series stars Mine Tugay (who featured in the Turkish adaptation of The OC), charting the life of single mother Defne and her son Bora. Hashtags used in social media included #MixedReviews and #AListCast.

The August 18 broadcast of Viudas e hijos del rock and roll on Telefe in Argentina delivered around 39,000 tweets in social media. The telenovela, produced by Underground (the production company behind the hit novela Graduates), is about the complicated romance between Miranda, the daughter of a radio star, and Diego, an impassioned rocker. Social media users were tweeting such hashtags as #GreatSoundtrack, #90sFlashback and #TooMuchLikeGraduates.

Bachelor in Paradise, which debuted August 4 on ABC in the U.S., garnered 37,000 social media tweets. It is a new spin-off of the dating show The Bachelor that brings back the sweethearts of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette in an "isolated romantic paradise" for a second chance to find love. Tweets included the hashtags #Zany, #ContestantBashing and #LOLTweets.

Also from the U.S., Atlanta Exes on VH1 saw 32,000 tweets around the August 18 broadcast. The series is a spin-off of the reality show Hollywood Exes that follows Atlanta's A-list ex-wives, making a name for themselves without their famous ex-husbands. Common hashtags were #LOLTweets, #LackofAction and #LameExesLife.

Black Jesus debuted on Adult Swim in the U.S. on August 7, drawing some 29,000 tweets. The sitcom is written by co-creators Aaron McGruder (The Boondocks) and Mike Clattenburg (Trailer Park Boys), charting the return of Jesus, back (and black) on Earth in the modern era and living in Compton, a crime-ridden suburb of Los Angeles. The program garnered hashtags such as #Controversial, #Hilarious and #Zany.

BBC America's After Who Live drew 29,000 tweets with its August 23 airing. After Who Live is a companion show to the eighth season premiere of the sci-fi series Doctor Who, presented by comedian Chris Hardwick (host of the Nerdist podcast) with celebrity guests discussing the episode viewers just got to see (the first with new Doctor Peter Capaldi). Social media users were tweeting the hashtags #FanPower, #ExcitedToDebrief and #KudosToNewDoctor.

Outlander, a new series on Starz in the U.S., drew 26,000 tweets with its August 9 premiere. The fantasy drama series is adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s series of best-selling novels. In it, a married World War II combat nurse accidentally journeys back in time to 1743, where she meets chivalrous young Scottish Highlander Jamie. Tweets associated with the broadcast include #Built-InFanbase, #ExcellentCasting, #Chemistry and #PromisingStart.
