Slots Secured for Pompeii

MUNICH/CANNES: Tandem Communications today announced that the new event mini-series Pompeii, produced with Scott Free Television and Sony Pictures Television, among other partners, has been acquired by ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany and Sky in the U.K.

The show, which also has Peace Out Productions, Dolphin Entertainment and Leder Productions as production partners, will be penned by Robert Towne, the Academy Award-winning writer of Chinatown.

"In portraying an historical world on the brink of destruction, he will no doubt capture and engage audiences globally. His adaptation will truly make for an astonishing television event."
 
Towne commented, "All of us, I think, have fantasies about living in the past and Pompeii uniquely allows you to indulge that fantasy. The [Robert] Harris book tells a compelling story with contemporary relevance. If you want an idea of what it was like to live life back then, Pompeii is it."
