Sky Wins EDS Suit

LONDON: BSkyB has triumphed in its five-year-old lawsuit against Electronic Data Systems (EDS) for deceit, negligent misrepresentation and breach of contract.

At the Royal Courts of Justice, Justice Ramsey found that EDS—which was acquired by Hewlett Packaged in 2008 and rebranded as HP Enterprise Services last year—lied to Sky in order to secure a contract to build out a new customer relationship management system back in 2000. In early 2002, the platform terminated the relationship, alleging that EDS had failed to perform its contractual obligations. Two years later, Sky embarked on its legal action against EDS. The final amount in costs and damages owed to Sky has not yet been determined, but the platform is expecting a payment of at least £200 million.

Sky took over the implementation of its customer relationship management system and completed the project in 2006.
