Sky Ups Shine Stake

LONDON, January 21: BSkyB has increased its stake in
Elisabeth Murdoch’s indie Shine Group to 11.3 percent from 2.88 percent,
according to the Guardian.

The amount paid by Sky for the stake has not been revealed.
Shine has been on a significant growth path as of late, entering into
negotiations to acquire Reveille in the U.S. following deals to buy three other
indies—Princess Productions, Kudos and Firefly.

Sony Pictures reportedly owns 15 percent of
Shine—founded by Elisabeth Murdoch after she left Sky in 2000—and
the private-investment firm 3i is also a stakeholder.
