Sky Real Lives Commission for Tern

LONDON/ABERDEEN: Tern Television has received a commission from Sky Real Lives for the 10×30-minute series Celebrity Parents’ SOS.

Each episode of Tern’s new lifestyle format will feature a British household that needs assistance in the fundamentals of mending, cleaning, cooking and DIY. Shirley Clarkson (mother of Jeremy) and Peter Jones (father of Vinnie) spearhead a team that impart old-fashioned wisdom and practical know-how to each household, showing them how to live more economically and embrace a more ecological lifestyle.

“This commission demonstrates Tern’s reputation and experience in producing new reality formats and we’re thrilled to be working alongside Sky Real Lives again and consolidating that relationship," said Harry Bell, the creative director at Tern Television. "The subject matter is one which will appeal to a broad audience since all households are feeling the pinch of the credit crunch and we’re delighted to have Shirley and Peter on board because they’re both very passionate about, and committed to, the whole make-do and mend ethos which underpins the series.”

Barbara Gibbon, the head of Sky Real Lives, added: "The benefits of a frugal lifestyle are being extolled in the media every day at the moment, and our audience want to ‘make do and mend’ but might not know how. Shirley, Peter and the crack team of experts on Celebrity Parents’ SOS share their wisdom and demonstrate that a return to traditional values can not only help make ends meet, but also save the planet. This engaging and thought provoking programme will prove it’s possible for anyone to become a frugilista if they want to.”
