LONDON: Sky has commissioned a second and third season of Trollied from Roughcut TV for broadcast on Sky 1 HD.

Two more seasons of Trollied, which debuted in August 2011, have been commissioned with an extended run of 13 episodes each, as well as a Christmas special. The new series will be co-executive produced for Roughcut TV by Ash Atalla (The Office, The IT Crowd) and Sue Howells.

Trollied features a fictional budget supermarket in the North West and stars Jane Horrocks (The Road to Coronation Street, Absolutely Fabulous), Mark Addy (The Full Monty, Game of Thrones), Jason Watkins (Being Human, Lark Rise to Candleford) and Rita May (Coronation Street, Drop Dead Gorgeous). They are joined by Joel Fry (White Van Man), Nick Blood (Material Girl, Combat Kids), Chanel Cresswell (This is England) and Lorraine Cheshire (Life on Mars, Early Doors).

Lucy Lumsden, the head of comedy at Sky, commented: “The staff at Valco served you right. I’m thrilled Trollied has clearly struck a chord and will back on our screens next year.”

Ash Atalla, the managing director at Roughcut TV, added: “This whole show from start to finish has been a world class experience all round. Most importantly we’re glad the viewers have taken to it so well. We’ll be working late, late nights to make sure the next series is even stronger.”

Stuart Murphy, the director of Sky 1 HD, said: "We really believed that there was an opportunity for a Sky to deliver customers a greater choice of home-grown comedy. And so it’s proved. Trollied debuted as the most successful multi-channel comedy ever, and following the tremendous response from customers, we’re delighted to announce a second and third season. At Sky, we act quickly to reward and recognize great work, and as part of our growing commitment to original content, we will continue to back the creative brilliance of British talent."
