Sky Deutschland Adds More Sports, Films in HD

MUNICH: Sky Sport HD 2, Sky Cinema HD and Sky Action HD are three new channels that have been added to the Sky portfolio in Germany, which now includes a total of ten high-definition networks.

The channels launch August 13.

Sky Sport HD is being renamed Sky Sport HD 1 with the start of the second channel. Sky Sport HD 2 will expand on Sky Sport HD 1’s offerings, with new event coverage including all the German games in the UEFA Champions League, up to three Premier League games per match day, a second game of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), a number of live golf events from the US PGA and the European PGA Tour and the Masters including Ryder Cup. Starting on the first match day of the new season, the Bundesliga conference will be available on Sky Sport HD 1. Also in HD exclusively on Sky from now on is the UEFA Champions League conference on Sky Sport HD 1.

Sky Cinema Hits HD and Sky Action HD are the high-definition offshoots of the Film package. Sky Cinema Hits HD will air a range of blockbuster hits from today and of the past years, as well as U.S. series. The lineup includes Indiana Jones films, Hellboy 2—The Golden Army and Hancock, along with the first German broadcast of season six of Nip/Tuck and the complete marathon of the eighth and final season of 24. Sky Action HD offers films from the genres of action, sci-fi and horror. Movies on the roster for August include Quantum of Solace, The Untouchables and The Day the Earth Stood Still.
