TORONTO: Breakthrough Entertainment’s new comedy Single White Spenny, starring Spencer Rice from Kenny vs. Spenny, is launching June 2 on Showcase Canada, taking a 9:30 p.m. slot as part of the network’s comedy lineup.

Rice stars in this comedy of relationship errors, where he struggles to find love, be loved, get love, rent love, buy love, sell love, etc. He is aided by his best friend Chelsea, played by Amy Matysio (Corner Gas), and employee Jessica, played by Nikki Payne (Last Comic Standing). His efforts are hindered by his lurking neighbor Phil, played by Wayne Thomas Yorke (Meet the Fockers), and he is ignored by his mother, played by Deb McGrath (Little Mosque on the Prairie).

“We are excited to debut Single White Spenny in Canada on Showcase’s comedy line-up and continue Breakthrough’s tradition of cutting-edge comedy with universal appeal,” said Ira Levy, principal at Breakthrough. Spencer Rice is a uniquely offbeat talent with a wide and passionate following. Together with the series’ outstanding supporting cast, we look forward to an impressive debut.”

"It’s been fun finding the comedy in my otherwise tragic existence," added Rice.
