Showtime Renews Dexter

LOS ANGELES, October 22:
The critically-acclaimed drama series Dexter has secured an order from Showtime for a fourth and
fifth season, consisting of 12 episodes each, which will begin production next
spring in Los Angeles.

Starring Six Feet Under’s Michael C. Hall, the series premiered its third
season three weeks ago to record ratings, as it surpassed 3 million viewers in
its premiere week and ranks as Showtime’s top-rated drama series. Dexter, based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, follows a police forensics expert who is also a
serial killer, targeting criminals who have eluded prosecution.

"Dexter 's enormous success is a tribute to the great
achievements of its cast, the producing team, the author of the original book
and the gifted Michael C. Hall," said Robert Greenblatt, Showtime’s president of entertainment. "I thought at best we
would attract a devoted cult audience but soon realized that, ironically,
this show is so thematically rich
and layered with humanity that audiences
of all kinds have flocked to it."
