Shine Lines Up Dual Management Roles

LONDON, August 7: Tiger
Aspect’s commercial director and senior VP of international production, Jamie
Munro, will assume a joint managing director role at Shine Television,
alongside Karen Smith, who has been upped from director of programs.

Smith and Munro will
undertake complementary creative and commercial positions, assuming the
day-to-day responsibilities of, and reporting to, Shine Group’s chairman and
CEO, Elisabeth Murdoch, and its president, Alex Mahon, respectively.

While Smith and Munro will
oversee Shine Television, Murdoch and Mahon will focus on the Shine Group of
companies that include Kudos, Firefly, Princess Productions, Reveille and ShineReveille
International.

The new structure, which
takes effect October 6, will see Joe McLusky, the director of production, and
John Gilbert, Shine TV’s director of legal and business affairs, who previously
reported to Mahon, report to Munro.

Mahon commented: “Jamie’s
business acumen and track record in realizing the full potential of properties
complemented by Karen’s creativity, touch and drive in programming makes a
highly desirable management team for Shine TV. The appointments put Shine TV on
a par with the management structures of the other group companies and it will
benefit from them driving it forward full time.”

Prior to serving a stint
at Tiger Aspect, Munro spent 12 years at the BBC and BBC Worldwide, with
credits such as Life of Mammals,
What Not to Wear and Strictly
Come Dancing
.
