LONDON: Neil Chugani is exiting BBC Worldwide to join Shine Group this September as chief financial officer.

Chugani, most recently CFO and executive director of BBC Worldwide, will report to Shine Group’s CEO and chairman, Elisabeth Murdoch, and president, Alex Mahon. He will also have a seat on the group’s board. He succeeds current CFO Dan O’Brien, who exits Shine this summer.

Chugani has been with BBC Worldwide since 2007, leading and developing all aspects of its financial and M&A strategy. He joined the commercial arm of the British pubcaster from Goldman Sachs International. He previously held several senior executive roles at BSkyB.

"Neil’s track record is exemplary," said Murdoch. "He has successfully implemented creative broadcast strategies on a global basis and his corporate finance credentials are second to none in our industry. He is a significant hire for Shine Group at this pivotal point in the company’s growth who I am convinced will contribute significantly to the next stages of our development. I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank Dan O Brien for his diligence and hard work since joining us 2 years ago. He has been instrumental in building Shine to where we are today and I wish him the very best in any future ventures.”

Chugani added: “As I come up to the three year mark at BBC Worldwide, it is time to think about the next step. Having worked with Liz before, I am very much looking forward to joining her and Alex, and the team at Shine. I leave BBC Worldwide with huge respect for what the company does, and the success it has achieved and look forward to continuing my relationship with both the BBC and BBC Worldwide in my new role. The Shine Group’s collection of uniquely talented and creative companies and its global footprint offers huge potential for future growth, and an enormous opportunity. I am very excited to be joining them on the next part of their journey."
