SINGAPORE: Shellhut Entertainment and Tiny Island Productions have teamed up to co-produce a 3-D stereoscopic CG animated film based on the series Shelldon.

Targeted for a 2012 release, the 90-minute feature already has finances secured, with a total production budget of $20 million. Film production will be undertaken by Tiny Island Productions’ studio in Singapore. Plans are under way to bring in additional creative partners from Japan, China and the U.S.

Dr Christopher Chia, the CEO of the Media Develoment Authority, said: “Shelldon is a good example of a winning property that has the potential to win over new audiences on more than one platform—in this case from television to the big screen—and in an exciting new area of stereoscopic 3-D that Singapore is championing. We congratulate both Tiny Island and Shellhut on their new partnership and look forward to seeing Shelldon on the big screen."

Lena Ng, the director of infocomm and media at International Enterprise Singapore, commented, "Stereoscopic 3-D is rapidly gaining global mindshare and international market presence, we are glad to see our home-grown Singapore company, Tiny Island Productions ready to take on the global stereoscopic 3-D market together with their Thai partner, Shellhut Entertainment. IE Singapore will continue to facilitate Tiny Island’s expansion plan in Japan, Europe and Latin America."
