Sheffield Doc/Fest to Screen New Michael Moore Doc

SHEFFIELD: Michael Moore’s latest documentary, Capitalism: A Love Story, is to screen at the Sheffield Doc/Fest on November 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Showroom Cinemas.

Now in its 16th year, Doc/Fest will be held November 4 to 8, and will presents films produced in 21 countries, with 19 world premieres, two international premieres, eight E.U. premieres and 45 U.K. premieres. Capitalism: A Love Story looks at the impact of capitalism on the lives of Americans, and the rest of the world. Moore’s other documentaries include Sicko, Fahrenheit 9/11, Bowling For Columbine and Roger & Me. Moore commented: “This is the movie I’ve been making for the past 20 years. Since Roger & Me debuted in 1989, there have been common threads and ideas present in all of my projects. Capitalism: A Love Story is not just a continuation of that, it’s the culmination." He added, “My goal is to address the questions that have been forming in my head for some time and that I believe our society needs to address as well. It’s not the job of the artist or the musician or the filmmaker to follow the crowd. Politicians won’t change anything on their own.”

Doc/Fest’s film programmer, Hussain Currimbhoy, said: “Michael Moore scrutinises what’s happening in the U.S.A. He takes issues that languish on the political back burner and brings them to the forefront of the world agenda. Doc/Fest is the perfect festival platform for Moore’s work; over the years the fest has screened most of his films and our audiences are tuned into his language. This is a very important film and a treat for both Sheffield Doc/Fest’s delegates and public audience.”
