Second Season in the Works for In Treatment

LOS ANGELES, January 12: Production is under way in New York on a second season of HBO’s Emmy Award-winning half-hour drama In Treatment, slated to launch this April.

Gabriel Byrne, who picked up a Golden Globe win for best actor in a drama series at last night’s awards, will return as Dr. Paul Weston. The new season will follow the newly divorced Dr. as he relocates to Brooklyn and runs his therapy practice out of his living room. Among his new patients are Mia (Hope Davis), an attorney and former patient; Oliver (Aaron Shaw), an 11-year-old who over-eats to deal with the stress of his parents’ divorce; Walter (John Mahoney), a CEO who is confronted by professional scandal and personal loss; and April (Alison Pill), an architecture student who has been diagnosed with cancer but is refusing to seek treatment. Each Friday, Paul will return to his own therapy sessions with Dr. Gina Toll (Dianne Wiest).

New episodes will debut on two nights each week, with two episodes debuting Sunday at 10 p.m. and three episodes debuting Monday at 10 p.m. In Treatment is produced by HBO Entertainment. Executive producers are Stephen Levinson, Mark Wahlberg, Warren Leight, Hagai Levi, Paris Barclay and Rodrigo Garcia, with co-executive producer Noa Tishby and producers Sarah Lum, Leonard Torgan, Alysse Bezahler and Sarah Treem.
