SYDNEY: Sticky Pictures has started production on a second season of the short-form kids’ series The Dukes of Bröxstônia, a show that came about through a commission from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation when launching ABC3.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is again the commissioning broadcaster. Cartoon Network has also picked up the broadcasting rights for the Asia Pacific. The ACTF and Mango Distribution are on board as distributors.

“Sticky Pictures is super-excited to be producing a second series of The Dukes of Bröxstônia. In series one we saw crazed alien fans, giant lice, jealous superheroes and gooey ear wax clones. We can’t wait to see what the Dukes get up to in series two!,” commented Donna Andrews, executive producer at Sticky Pictures.

“The characters in Dukes of Bröxstônia have resonated extremely well with our ABC3 audience and we are thrilled that they will be returning for a second series,” added Carla De Jong, the head of commissioning and development for children’s television at ABC3.

“We are really excited to partner with Sticky Pictures as we have been actively looking out for local Australian content that enhances Cartoon Network Australia’s side-splitting comedy lineup,” said Vishnu Athreya, the director of program acquisitions and development at Turner Entertainment Networks Asia. “And the fact that Dukes of Bröxstônia is a no-dialogue wacky comedy means that it can cross borders easily and appeal to kids not only in Australia but throughout the region as well.”
