Scripps Names Post-Split Management Teams

CINCINNATI, December 14: The E. W. Scripps Company, which
intends to separate into two publicly traded corporations by the middle of next
year, has begun naming the board directors and senior management for the two
companies, one focused on its lifestyle media brands and the other on its print
businesses and local TV stations.

At The E. W. Scripps Company, which will consist of the
print and local TV operations, William R. Burleigh will continue to serve as
chairman of the board of directors. Burleigh, a former president and CEO of the
company, has been chairman of the board since 1999. Richard A. Boehne will
become president and CEO of The E. W. Scripps Company, succeeding Kenneth W.
Lowe.

At Scripps Networks Interactive, the new company that will
be created to manage the lifestyle entities, Lowe will be chairman of the
board, president and CEO. Nicholas B. Paumgarten will be the lead independent
director. In addition, Joseph G. NeCastro will be the executive VP and CFO,
with additional responsibility for Shopzilla and uSwitch, the company’s online
comparison shopping services. Anatolio B. Cruz III will be executive VP, chief
legal officer and corporate secretary. Mark S. Hale will be senior VP of
technology operations and chief technology officer. Jennifer L. Weber will be
senior VP of human resources. Lori A. Hickok will become senior VP of finance.
Chad M. Boydston will become VP and controller.

The company’s divisional leaders—Mark Contreras, the
senior VP of newspapers; Bill Peterson, the senior VP of the television station
group; John Lansing, the president of Scripps Networks; and Doug Stern, the
president of United Media—will continue in their current roles.
