SCI FI UK Takes Heroes

LONDON, September 13: SCI FI Channel in the U.K. has picked
up the rights to NBC’s new fall season drama Heroes, as well as SCI FI U.S.’s Stan Lee reality series Who
Wants to be a Superhero?
for launch early
next year.

Heroes follows a
group of ordinary people who discover they have special powers. The show, from
NBC Universal International Television Distribution, will air on SCI FI UK in
the first quarter. "It comes as no surprise that Heroes is one of NBC's hottest bets for this coming
season,” said Jon Farrar, the programming director at SCI FI UK. “An awesome,
sexy, exhilarating drama with enough jaw-dropping moments to keep you gripped
from start to finish, it is the undiscovered gem of this year's LA Screenings.
It's X-Men meets Lost, and viewers are going to love it."

Produced by SCI FI U.S., Nash Entertainment and comic book
legend Stan Lee, Who Wants to be a Superhero? will be the first reality TV show to air on SCI FI UK since Mad
Mad House
in 2004. Contestants vie for the
chance of winning a Lee-produced comic book and a TV movie. The six-episode
show is also distributed by NBC Universal International Television Distribution
and will run exclusively on SCI FI early next year. "We just loved the
premise,” Farrar said. “After all, who hasn't wanted to be one? The show is
compelling, addictive fun. It's been a ratings hit for SCI FI U.S. and we're
confident that it will do similar business for us here.”
