SCI FI Channel Preps Battlestar Galactica Final Episodes, Special

NEW YORK, August 8: SCI FI
Channel will air the final ten episodes of Battlestar Galactica in 2009, followed by a two-hour special that
portrays the events before the series begins.

Directed by series star
Edward James Olmos and written by Battlestar Galactica’s Jane
Espenson, the program will begin shooting in Vancouver at the end of the summer
and will be released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment shortly
after its broadcast.

The special event focuses
on familiar characters such as Cylon number one, known as Cavil (Dean
Stockwell), resistance leader Sam T. Anders (Michael Trucco) and Chief Galen
Tyrol (Aaron Douglas). The two-hour production shows that in the beginning the Cylons
had a plan, but it didn’t account for survivors. During the aftermath of the
destruction, two powerful Cylon agents struggle with plots and priorities on
the human ships that escaped and among the resistance fighters who were left
behind.

The series is from
Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.
