Scholastic Media’s WordGirl Scores Daytime Emmy

NEW YORK, June 20:
Scholastic Media’s vocabulary-based 2-D animated series WorldGirl, produced by Soup2Nuts, won the award for
Outstanding Writing in Animation at the 35th annual Creative Arts &
Entertainment Daytime Emmy Awards.

The series, which airs
five days a week on PBS KIDS GO! in the U.S., follows the adventures of a
mild-mannered 10-year-old girl who transforms at the call of duty into
WordGirl, a superhero who defeats villains with her vocabulary.

“I am so thrilled
that the academy has chosen to honor Jack Ferraiolo, Peggy Nicoll, and the
entire WorldGirl writing team,” said Deborah Forte, the
president of Scholastic Media and executive VP of Scholastic Inc. “Dorothea
Gillim, WorldGirl’s creator and executive producer, and
the entire Soup2Nuts team continue to do an amazing job in bringing the
fun-filled adventures of WordGirl to life—consistently embodying Scholastic Media’s
mission of seamlessly combining education with entertainment that resonates
with children.”
