Sarkozy Names Exec to Lead New French TV Group

PARIS, February 22: France
24’s CEO, Alain de Pouzilhac, has been tapped by President Nicolas Sarkozy to
lead a new entity that will oversee all of the French government’s
international TV and radio outlets.

De Pouzilhac will oversee
the formation of France Monde, which will include Radio France International,
the French-language offering TV5 Monde and the international news network
France 24. “Alain de Pouzilhac is expected to chair this new organization,
which will be in charge of modernizing … French and French-speaking
international public broadcasting,” said a statement from President Sarkozy’s
office.

Renowned French journalist
Christine Ockrent will become general director of France Monde.

De Pouzilhac is due to
come up with a plan of action for France Monde for 2009-2013.
