SARFT, SMG Back Amazia

CANNES, October 8: China’s State Administration of Radio, Film and Television
(SARFT) and the Shanghai Media Group (SMG) have given their backing to Amazia, Reed
MIDEM’s new Asian-focused exhibition and conference slated to take place in
Hong Kong from November 17 to 20, 2008.

The event, being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center,
is devoted to the creation and distribution of international entertainment
content across all delivery platforms. First announced at MIPTV in April,
Amazia is set to feature Asian and international content creators and rights
owners, including television and film production, and distribution companies,
broadcasters, record companies, music publishers and distributors, live music
specialists, mobile music services, online game platforms, as well as mobile
operators, digital content providers, technology enablers, licensing and
merchandising companies, advertising agencies and consumer brands that are
looking to associate themselves with entertainment content.

In addition to the exhibition and conferences, Amazia will feature
content and platform showcases, special events and networking services. And, on
November 17 and 18, Amazia will play host to the Entertainment Leadership
Summit, a two-day think-tank bringing together speakers from across the Asian
and international entertainment industries.

“The support of SARFT and
SMG is hugely important for Amazia and
extends the fruitful relationship that has been developing since China was the
country of honor at MIPTV in 2004,” notes Franz Caduc, the director of the new
event. “Amazia will be a unique
opportunity for non-Asian companies to discover the vibrant Asian entertainment
content industry, as well as the region’s world-class new technology
distribution platforms.”

Tian Jin, the vice
minister of SARFT, called Amazia an “exciting new event” that will become “an important platform for exchange between China’s
radio, film and television industries and our colleagues around the world.
SARFT is delighted to support this event and encourages Reed MIDEM to build on
the excellent relationships established with China’s leading media groups at
MIPTV and MIPCOM."

Li Ruigang, the president
of SMG, noted: “I am sure Amazia will
be an important platform for our exchange with converged markets in Asia.”
