RTVE Takes Icon Titles

BARCELONA, September 1: Icon Animation has notched up deals on four of its
third-party properties with Spanish broadcaster RTVE, which also extended its
rights to Icon’s own Lola & Virginia.

The deal also covers Corneil
& Bernie; Vampires,
Pirates and Extraterrestrials; Fire
Quest
and The Gnoufs.

Christophe Goldberger, the head of
sales and marketing at Icon Animation, commented, “We’re pleased with the major
commitment that RTVE has made to Lola & Virginia, which goes from strength to strength, acquiring the show
for both the terrestrial signal and new digital channel; and also programming
from our third-party distribution library. This is an area of our business that
we are looking to expand and we are actively seeking further programming for
representation.”

Lola & Virginia has also sold to Disney Channel and airs on
Basque broadcaster ETB in Spain. Other broadcast partners include Nickelodeon
Latin America, Nickelodeon in France, Disney Channel in Italy, RCTV Venezuela,
France 3 and TV3. Icon Animation holds all distribution rights worldwide except
for France, French-speaking Switzerland, Benelux, the U.K., Ireland, Iceland,
Australia and New Zealand, which are held by Millimages. The series is a
co-production between Icon Animation, Millimages, France 3, TV Catalunya and
ETB.
