RTL II Picks Up Storm Hawks for Action Block

VANCOUVER, August 3: German terrestrial broadcaster RTL II
has acquired Nerd Corps Entertainment’s new 3-D action-adventure series Storm
Hawks
for its action programming block Pokito.

The deal was brokered by rights management company m4e,
which recently acquired all rights for the series in German-speaking
territories. The 52×30-minute series is currently airing on Cartoon Network in
the U.S., as well on terrestrial broadcaster France 3. Storm Hawks will also launch this year in several countries,
including on YTV in Canada and Cartoon Network in the U.K., France and Latin
America. The Canadian French-language broadcaster VRAK has also acquired
Storm Hawks
, and MGM Worldwide Television
Distribution has picked up the rights to distribute it in all territories,
excluding North America and Western Europe. Spin Master has signed on as the
series’ master toy licensee and is planning to launch its first wave of product
this fall.

Storm Hawks is set in
a world where squadrons of high-flying Sky Knights battle to protect their air
turf. Five mismatched teens have found the wreckage of legendary sky knight
squadron The Storm Hawks, and now, armed with transforming flying motorcycles,
they fight some of the nastiest villains ever to hit the skies. Storm
Hawks
was created by Asaph Fipke, Nerd
Corps’ CEO and founder.

“We’re very excited to have acquired Storm Hawks for our Pokito programming block from m4e,” said Andrea Lang, the VP of animation and
children’s programming at RTL II. “It fits perfectly for our target demo of
6-11, as it delivers great action and humor. The series will definitely be
accompanied by an extensive promotional campaign on-air, online and offline.”
