Rosie O’Donnell Gets Show on OWN

LOS ANGELES: Rosie O’Donnell has been signed to lead a daily daytime talk show on the soon-to-launch OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.

The new show will be based in New York and will feature O’Donnell in her return to daytime. O’Donnell had her own daytime talk show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, from 1996 to 2002. The new series will launch on OWN in 2011.

"Rosie is an undeniable talent who has captivated TV audiences for nearly 20 years," commented Oprah Winfrey. "She’s a true original, who brings her authentic voice, dynamic energy and pure passion to everything she does."

"It’s an honor and a privilege to work with Oprah Winfrey on her network," said O’Donnell. "I’m excited to be back on daytime television."

"We are thrilled to have her be a part of OWN," added Christina Norman, the CEO of OWN.
