Rose d’Or Winners Announced

LUCERNE: The recipients of this year’s Golden Rose awards were unveiled on the final evening of the 49th annual Rose d’Or Festival, with I Survived a Japanese Gameshow winning out as Best of 2009.

I Survived a Japanese Gameshow from Small World IFT also won for best reality program. CBC’s Rick Mercer Report took home the award for best comedy, while Distraction’s Windfall & Misfortunes was named best drama. In the entertainment arena, The Anthill from 7 y acciόn took top honors. From Zig Zag Productions and distributed by ITV Global Entertainment, Relentless was recognized in the game-show category. The DLT Entertainment title My Family came out on top in the sitcom category.

Channel 4’s The Curse of Mona Lisa won for best arts documentary, while Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s The Eternity Man took best performing arts project, with a special mention going out to SF Schweizer Fernsehen’s La Traviata At Zurich Main Station.

The BBC’s MI High, Whack The Mole, The MI High Alternate Reality Game was honored in the multiplatform arena. Best pitch pilot was awarded to Productions Pixcom for Le Téléphone.

Festival director Urban Frye presented Sheena Macdonald, the director of special projects at The Canadian Film Centre (CFC), and writer/producer George Anthony with the 2009 Honorary Rose.
