GENEVA: The EBU has revealed the nominees for the 55th annual Rose d’Or Awards, which span six categories for television and online video: reality and factual entertainment, game show, comedy, sitcom, entertainment and, new for 2016, drama series.

The nominees for drama series are Happy Valley, River and This is England ’90. All three nominees hail from the U.K.

The comedy contenders are Inside No. 9 (U.K.), Pyjama Party (Finland) and Tatortreiniger (Germany). In the sitcom category, the nominees are Episodes (U.K.), Mum (U.K.) and Raised by Wolves (U.K.).

Baking in the Dark (Denmark) is nominated alongside Pick Me! (U.K.) and The Getaway Car (U.K.) for game show. The reality and factual-entertainment shows up for the award are How to Change the World (U.K. & Canada), The Gym Teacher (Sweden) and The Real Marigold Hotel (U.K.)

In the entertainment arena, the nominees are Adele at BBC (U.K.), Mordkomission Berlin (Germany) and Eurovision Song Contest 2016 (SVT).

For the first time in 2016, the shortlisted nominees will present their programs to their peers ahead of the Rose d’Or Award ceremony and have a say in who takes home the coveted trophies at the Rose d’Or Award ceremony itself at Axica in Berlin on September 13.

“The response from across the entertainment world has been incredible,” said EBU’s head of television and Rose d’Or organizer Jeroen Depraetere. “With such high levels of creativity on show this year our juries have had a tough job selecting the 33 nominees competing to win a Rose d’Or trophy in Berlin. The EBU is proud that once again the Rose d’Or Awards can provide a platform for the world’s best entertainment program-makers.”
