Rose d’Or Announces Call for Submissions

LUCERNE, November 15: The
Rose d'Or Festival, which honors the best of international television
programming, has announced that it is now accepting submissions for the 2008
Rose d’Or awards and has unveiled several newly revised award categories.

The awards will be
presented at the 48th Rose d’Or Festival from May 2 through May 6, 2008 in Lucerne, Switzerland.

The 2008 Rose d’Or
Festival will include three newly revised award categories, including game show, entertainment and drama, as well as the Special
Prizes for honorary rose, best of 2007, and the new award for best entertainer.
In addition to game show, entertainment and
drama, the eight total categories in which prizes will be awarded at the
annual Festival include: reality, comedy, sitcom,
performing arts, and arts documentary. The award for best entertainer and best
of 2007 will be presented to the most outstanding performer and outstanding
program respectively, across all genres. The honorary rose recipient is
presented to an individual who has made a significant impact on the television
industry.

To qualify for entry,
programming must have been produced or broadcast for the first time within the
previous calendar year and belong to one of the eight festival categories named above. The juries
are selected by the Rose d’Or Festival organizers for their expertise in their
field and include a balance between state and commercial broadcasters, and
independent producers.

Each year, the Rose d’Or
Festival draws the best of the year's new television programming, representing
approximately 40 countries worldwide. Entry forms for the Rose d’Or competition
are sent to more than 2000 international producers and broadcasters.

“Last year, the 47th
Rose d’Or Festival embarked on an initiative to
broaden its appeal and return to its origins,” said Urban Frye, the Festival director. “We are
very happy with the positive results that have been achieved as indicated by
the record number of entry submissions from 32 countries, indicating the
Festival’s worldwide significance. We’re off to a great start for the 48th
Rose d’Or Festival in 2008.”
