MIAMI: Rod Perth, the president and CEO of NATPE, tells World Screen Newsflash that the events of the three-day market and conference in Miami were “very gratifying” in that they truly exemplified the theme of “Content Without Borders.”

Perth said that for the last three years NATPE has been focused on a strategy that is all about inclusivity for every sector of the content business. “We are not a niche market; we’re about content at its heart,” he told World Screen Newsflash. “We forecasted that there was going to be an increasing blurring of the lines between digital and traditional television, and that is absolutely happening. We believed that advertisers needed to begin to increase dialogue with the people who create shows, and we did that [this week at NATPE] in a huge way…. An overlap and interdependency all came true this year in a way that created buzz and excitement.”

Perth went on to say that the NATPE team accomplished virtually everything it had set out to do. “I’m also told that the exhibitors did a lot of business, which ultimately is what their world is all about. We couldn’t be more pleased.”
