Rive Gauche Snaps Up My Strange Addiction

LOS ANGELES: Rive Gauche Television has picked up My Strange Addiction and plans to introduce the U.S. reality series to international broadcasters at MIPTV.

My Strange Addiction documents people who are battling obsessive behaviors that threaten to take over their lives. Each half-hour episode follows two individuals with compulsions ranging from women eating sofa cushions to individuals addicted to bleaching their skin.

The reality series was the number one rated show of the week on TLC in every key demo and the highest-rated program of the night on all U.S. cable in every key female demo.

David Auerbach, the president of Rive Gauche Television, said: “Some shows make your heart break while others make your jaw drop. My Strange Addiction has connected so strongly with audiences because it succeeds brilliantly at both. Viewers tune in because the addictions are so bizarre and they stay glued to their sets because the stories are so compelling. 20 West Productions has created a series with universal appeal that is easy to promote. We haven’t even announced that we have the series and we’re already getting calls. I’m confident that My Strange Addiction will be a hot property at MIPTV.”
