Ripley Entertainment Extends Deal with SPTI for Believe It or Not!

ORLANDO, April 5: Sony Pictures Television International
(SPTI) has reached a new deal with Ripley Entertainment to continue developing
versions of the Believe It or Not! TV
series outside of the U.S.

The 88×1-hour series was originally produced in the U.S.
between 1999 and 2003 by Sony under license from Ripley Entertainment; it aired
on TBS. The international versions of Ripley's Believe It or Not! will feature local actors who will replace Dean Cain
as the host of the program. Local versions are set to launch soon in Italy,
Russia and India.

“There remains a great deal of interest in the shows
internationally and we saw no reason not to allow Sony Pictures Television
International to continue to promote that interest with local versions of the
show,” said Norm Deska, Ripley’s EVP of intellectual property. “Ripley is a
global brand, and the appeal of our television, books, weird-and-unusual
exhibits and people is widespread.”
