RHI Bags Sales for Flash Gordon, Begins Production on Mini-Series

CANNES, April 7: RHI Entertainment has secured
broadcast and DVD sales for its live-action series Flash Gordon in several international markets,
and has also begun production on a four-hour event mini-series, The Last
Templar
, for NBC
Television.

The Last Templar stars Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino (Mighty
Aphrodite
, Mimic) as a Manhattan archaeologist who
teams up with an FBI agent, played by Scott Foley (The Unit, Felicity). The two end up in a romantic
adventure as they try to uncover the lost secrets of the Knights of Templar.
Shot in Montreal, with location shooting in Morocco, the mini-series will wrap
production on June 21. Muse Entertainment Enterprises is producing the series,
while Robert Halmi Sr., Robert Halmi Jr. and Michael
Prupas serve as executive producers.

RHI has also closed deals for the 22-episode series
Flash Gordon,
based on the comic-strip franchise of the same name. Among the new broadcast
agreements are Telemunchen in Germany; SCI FI in Italy, France, Spain and
Benelux; TV6 in Sweden; M-Net in South Africa; Creative Programs in the
Philippines; and Genex Entertainment in India. New DVD agreements include
Contender in the U.K. and Horizon One in Australia and New Zealand. Flash
Gordon
, which is
a contemporary version of the classic series, launched in August 2007 on SCI FI
Channel in the U.S., and followed with a U.K. launch in March 2008.
