Report: ESPN Eyes Bundesliga Rights in Germany

MUNICH, October 27: ESPN is said to be mulling a bid for the
rights to Bundesliga German football matches, reports
indicate, and is looking into plans for a local-language service to broadcast
the games.

Bloomberg, citing two people close to the negotiations, says
Disney has begun talks with German cable platforms about a local ESPN feed for Bundesliga games. The matches currently air on Premiere via
a sub-licensing agreement with cable platform Unity Media.

DFL, which represents the media rights to the Bundesliga,
is expected to send auction documents out to prospective bidders this week, and
aims to have a deal in place by year-end.
