CANNES: The number of registered MIPTV attendees this year was just over 11,500, Laurine Garaude, Reed MIDEM’s television director, announced at a press conference in Cannes this morning.

The registered attendees included more than 1,500 exhibiting companies out of a total 3,957 participating firms. Delegates included over 4,000 buyers. The numbers are on par with last year’s attendance figures.

At MIPDOC, meanwhile, registered attendees totaled 767. The Connected Creativity forum, a new element at MIPTV this year, attracted more than 500 participants.

Discussing the market’s highlights, Garaude noted the slew of celebrities on site, including Arnold Schwarzenegger introducing his multiplatform animated brand The Governator, American Express receiving the MIPTV brand of the year award and the spotlight on 3D. In addition, gains were seen in attendance from Brazil and Latin America in general, Turkey and China.

At the press conference today, Reed MIDEM also announced that Russia will be the country of focus at MIPCOM.
