RDF Signs Co-Pro Deal for Scripted Comedy

LONDON: RDF Rights and IFC have secured a co-production deal for The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, a scripted comedy created and written by David Cross, who also stars in the series.

The show follows the misadventures of Todd Margaret (Cross, Arrested Development), a corporate nobody and pathological liar who unexpectedly finds himself running his company’s London office. His boss (Will Arnett, Arrested Development) asks him to launch a new energy drink, and Todd winds up in over his head.

The deal between RDF and IFC comes on the heels of a successful broadcast pilot made by RDF Television’s comedy team for Channel 4 last year. More4 has since picked up the U.K. broadcast rights. The series is currently in production and is slated for launch on both IFC and More4 later this year. The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret will be co-funded by Channel 4.

"The field of fantastic U.S. talent together with the Anglo-American storyline fits perfectly with IFC’s comedy vision in the U.S. and I am delighted to have them onboard Todd Margaret, which we all hope will run and run,” said Anthony Appell, the VP of sales at RDF Rights, who brokered the deal.

Todd Margaret is exactly the type of scripted comedy series viewers can expect to see more and more of on IFC,” added Jennifer Caserta, the executive VP and general manager of IFC. “The show brings to life IFC’s new Always On. Slightly Off. brand position through the characters and over-the-top situations. We’re thrilled to bring U.S. viewers the first collaboration of David Cross and Will Arnett since Arrested Development, a must-see show for IFC’s viewers.”
