Portfolio Presents Cross-Platform Comedy

CANNES: Portfolio Entertainment is working with TELETOON in Canada to develop the new series HOOD, an original, cross-platform, half-hour animated comedy-adventure.

The series follows the exploits of a secret global organization of teens who don super-charged hoodies to defend the Earth from all manner of weirdness and danger. HOOD is geared toward tween audiences. Portfolio plans to use a mix of animation styles, including 2-D digital, to bring the HOOD characters to life, and is also exploring the use of digital content to support and enhance the show. Howie Shia created the series and is being assisted by story editor Mark Leiren-Young on the development of the bible and initial scripts.

"We are thrilled to be working with our ace partners at TELETOON," said Lisa Olfman, the president and co-founder of Portfolio Entertainment. "Their eye for quality and courage to champion the incredibly cool universe Howie and Mark have built in HOOD is simply inspiring."

"Portfolio has a track record of creating clever comedies and we think HOOD is an exciting idea with a lot of possibilities," added Michael Goldsmith, the director of original content for TELETOON. "We’re excited by this show’s innovative look and the new spin on the classic superhero team."
