Pocoyo Gets Virtual Community

MADRID: Zinkia has launched Pocoyo World, a virtual universe that allows children, parents and caregivers to share in a host of fun and educational activities with their favorite characters from the property.

With the full backing of Internet security operator Protégeles, the virtual world is currently available in English and Spanish, with other language versions to be rolled out over the coming months. Pocoyo World, aimed primarily at 3- to 8-year-olds, allows users to create and customize their own character, meet friends in a secure environment, watch episodes from the TV series, sing songs and more. Basic access to the site is available free of charge, while exclusive access to all games, episodes, puzzles and activities, which are updated on a regular basis, is available to subscribers.

European master toy licensee Bandai, home-entertainment outfit Big Picture and publishing house Planeta and Planeta Agostini are the first partners to team up with Zinkia in Spain, offering free access to Pocoyo World with the purchase of specific products.

Fernando de Miguel, Zinkia’s managing director, said, "The Internet is an intrinsic part of our lives and will be even more important for our children. We should embrace the amazing entertainment and educational potential it offers, ensuring that content is totally suitable and the community totally secure for children."

Guillermo Cánovas, the president of Protégeles, added, "Pocoyo World offers an exciting and secure environment for children to play in, whilst also teaching them simple new technology skills. It’s the ideal destination for children; it’s fun, educational and safe."
