Playhouse Disney UK Preps Eco Campaign

LONDON, October 8:
Playhouse Disney in the U.K. has tapped six British production companies to
develop a series of short animated films that help teach preschoolers about the
environment, for broadcast in November.

The interstitials are part
of the channel’s “Playing for the Planet” campaign. They are being produced by
Bermuda Shorts, Artillery, Mr & Mrs Smith, Fold7, Studio AKA and Partinzan
Lab. Each outfit was tasked with taking a complex environmental issue and
boiling it down to a single idea or example that a preschooler could easily
understand. Each spot shows kids the everyday things they can do to have a positive
impact on the environment. The spots cover saving water, recycling, reducing
pollution, preserving nature, saving energy and spreading the “green” message.

Simon Amster, the creative
director of Disney Channels U.K., commented: “We encouraged a uniquely
collaborative approach to the project by bringing all the production companies
together to share creative ideas from the outset. The result is a variety of
styles but shared creative visions and high production values—we are
delighted with the results.”
