Planet Earth Scores Latin American Deals

RIO DE JANEIRO, September
11: BBC Worldwide Americas has secured three new sales for the natural-history
series Planet Earth to
broadcasters in Latin America.

Announced at BBC Showcase
Latin America, the latest broadcasters to sign up for the 11-part series are
Canal 12 in El Salvador, Televicentro in Nicaragua and Telefuturo in Paraguay.

The new deals bring total Planet
Earth
sales to 15 in the region
and confirm the series as the most successful natural-history title BBC
Worldwide Americas has ever sold in Latin America. Previous sales include TVN
in Chile, Globo in Brazil, Ecuavisa in Ecuador, Tele Doce in Uruguay, Canal 11
in Honduras, Canal 11 in Mexico and Señal Colombia in Colombia.

Earth
won four Emmys, including
outstanding nonfiction series. The BBC/Discovery/NHK co-production was filmed
in 62 countries, over four years, by the BBC’s Natural History Unit.

senior VP of TV sales, co-productions and children’s for BBC Worldwide
