Pilot Productions Launches New Broadband Channel

LONDON, September 24:
Pilot Productions, the producer of the hit Globe Trekker series, has launched a new broadband channel,
www.globetrekkerchannel.tv.

Supported by the platform
Narrowstep, the new broadband channel will feature Pilot’s archive travel and
lifestyle programming, including TV-show trailers, behind-the-scenes interviews
and music downloads of soundtracks featured in the shows, which are all
accessible on a pay-per-view basis. Pilot has also created a half-hour
broadband schedule, which will be refreshed monthly and consist of two- to
three-minute segments from the company’s library to run throughout the day.

The current lineup, culled
from a library of more than 350 hours of programming, includes the
award-winning series Globe Trekker,
which transports viewers to unforgettable destinations around the world; Treks
in a Wild World
, the show that
combines ecology, anthropology and history with outdoor pursuits in remote
places; Planet Food, a global
guide to food cultures; the shopping and travel show, Bazaar; and Adventure Golf, a guide to the ultimate golfing getaways.

The new broadband channel
is an extension of the company’s established adventure travel portal,
www.pilotguides.com, which generates average monthly traffic of 110,000 unique
users, 350,000 page views and has 30,000 registered users. Pilot is also
looking at embedding its content on different broadband platforms to increase
its audience reach.

Ian Cross, the managing
director of Pilot Productions, said: “Broadband is a great environment to try
new things, whether they be formats or ideas, and globetrekkerchannel.tv may be
the forum to develop some of the travel TV series of the future.”
