PBS’s Frontline to Be Recognized at History Makers

NEW YORK: The PBS flagship public-affairs series Frontline will be honored with the 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award at History Makers.

Frontline‘s originator and executive producer, David Fanning, will attend the History Makers Awards ceremony to accept award. The ceremony is to take place on January 27, 2011.

The Outstanding Achievement Award winner is chosen by the History Makers Advisory Board, which is comprised of leading broadcasters and producers from around the world. The award recognizes an individual or program that has consistently achieved excellence in history and current affairs programming, and has made an exceptional contribution to the industry as a whole.

"Frontline has been setting the standard for serious investigative journalism for almost thirty years," said Michael Katz, chair of the History Makers Advisory Board and the senior VP of AETN International. "Week after week, season after season, Frontline has consistently delivered intelligent, complex and provocative stories to its audience, and we could not be more pleased to recognize a program so committed to critical reporting of the highest quality."

Bill Nemtin, executive producer of History Makers, added of Fanning’s attendance in accepting the award: "As Frontline‘s leader since its premier in 1983, Mr. Fanning has handled some very controversial subjects with great courage and integrity and has been rigorous in maintaining the highest journalistic practices. We are all looking forward to offering him our congratulations personally during what will surely be a memorable night."
