Paul Haggis Joins History Makers Lineup

TORONTO, November 26:
Award-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis has signed on to participate in a "In
Conversation With" session at this year's History Makers International
Summit, which
will take place in New York City from January 29 to 31 at the Marriott
Downtown.

Haggis
was the first screenwriter to write two Best Film Oscar winners back-to-back
with Million Dollar Baby, directed by
Clint Eastwood, and Crash, which he
directed himself. Haggis's screenplay collaborations include the Clint Eastwood
productions Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima, and he also
helped pen the James Bond flick Casino
Royale
. Haggis also co-wrote the screenplay for the new Bond production Quantum of Solace, which has already
broken numerous box-office records.

"We
have always wanted to present a session on 'Hollywood and History' for History
Makers," said Bill Nemtin, the executive producer of History Makers 2009.
"Paul Haggis's experience gives him the perfect qualifications—he
has been a writer, producer and director and received Academy Award honors for
his screen writing. His collaboration with Clint Eastwood on the films Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of our Fathers gave him an
insider's view of a History project, unique in Hollywood history. He directed,
produced and wrote his most recent release, based on a true story, In the Valley of Elah, which placed
him in the center of the debate surrounding America 's role in Iraq."
