Parthenon Launching Varied Programming Roster

LONDON: Parthenon Entertainment Group is launching its largest ever slate of factual and children’s titles at MIPTV, with some 100 hours of programming, the majority of which is available in HD.

Parthenon has a mix of documentaries, drama and children’s productions for international buyers. Among them is Animal Armageddon, an 8×1-hour title that discovers and reveals the catastrophic causes and consequences of mass extinction. The 26×10-minute City of Friends spotlights characters involved in all aspects of the emergency services—police, fire and ambulance—and portrays a city whose citizens are animals and people living side by side who help each other.

Shot in HD, the 6×1-hour Generals at War presents a fresh approach to the great battles of World War II. Using graphics and dramatic reconstructions, each episode features a different challenge that examines the decisions, dilemmas and disasters of the generals on either side. Also in the way of high-definition offerings, Real NCIS is a documentary series that follows the real-life agents who inspired the successful international drama series NCIS.

Peter Pas, the commercial director of Parthenon Entertainment Group, commented: “Whilst it’s true the TV industry is facing a tough climate, we see this as an opportunity to showcase the wider range of programming we now have available, from spectacular CGI disaster epics through to insightful crime documentaries and top-class kids entertainment. As programming budgets get tighter, the more international broadcasters look for acquired content to complement original productions. As such, this year’s MIPTV could well be one of the best yet for distributors.”
