LONDON: The British hits Murdoch Mysteries and Britannia High have been sold by ITV Studios Global Entertainment to China’s state-owned broadcaster CCTV.

The programs originally aired in the U.K. on ITV1. They will now be dubbed in Mandarin for a premiere on CCTV-8. The shows will air as part of Everyday Jiayi, a prime-time programming blocked owned and operated by Chello Zone’s Encore International.

Adam Robinson, the director of programming for Chello Zone, said: “Murdoch Mysteries and Britannia High have been very popular series in the UK and we are pleased to be expanding our programming lineup on Everyday Jiayi with such successful shows. We hope they will become firm favorites with viewers in China when they premiere later this year.”

James Ross, the regional director for Asia at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, added, “We are very pleased to be working with Chello Zone and Encore and to see two of ITV Studios’ exciting series arrive at CCTV, China’s most important broadcaster.“
