CAPE TOWN: Vyv Simson, former executive producer for Animal Planet at Discovery Networks Europe, has been hired to fill the new role of creative director and commissioning editor at NHU Africa.

Simson is relocating to South Africa for his new role. Previously, Simson served as executive producer with Darlow Smithson Productions. He then joined Discovery Networks Europe, where he commissioned and delivered some 200 hours of original programs for Animal Planet International.

“This is a landmark appointment for NHU Africa,” said Sophie Vartan, the CEO of NHU. “Vyv is an incredibly talented executive producer, and brings with him over thirty years of award-winning experience in producing, directing and commissioning programming of the highest international standards.”

“Working with NHU Africa is a fabulous opportunity,” commented Simson. “The chance to help build a world class wildlife business in Africa, working directly with existing African filmmakers and helping to develop future African filmmaking talent is an absolute privilege and a massively exciting prospect for me. I feel as if all my Wildlife Christmases have come at once.”
