Outright Sets Up Fund for Third-Party Content

LONDON: Outright Distribution has established a significant new fund, available from the beginning of 2010, that is to be invested in a combination of first-look deals and advances, primarily for content generated from within the U.K. and U.S.

Outright is looking for, in particular, factual entertainment with an emphasis on series of returning potential in the light-entertainment and shiny-floor genres. Other unique projects from outside these areas and from other genres such as drama are also being actively considered.

Underlining Outright’s plans for growth, the company has hired Claudia Danser as executive VP of sales and co-productions for Europe. Danser has spent the last eight years in senior sales positions at BBC Worldwide, managing the regions of Benelux, Scandinavia and Iberia.

Chris Bonney, the managing director of Outright Distribution, explained of the move: "These new developments offer a very exciting future for Outright. Our rapid growth has provided a solid platform on which to further expand. We’re looking for the right projects to compliment our general market positioning with the quality of the concept being the most important parameter. Claudia brings a wealth of new skills and experience to our team, with an impeccable sales and management track record and proven skills in co-production and drama."
