Outright Notches Up Deals on River Cottage

LONDON: The River Cottage franchise continues to deliver for Outright Distribution, which landed new deals for both the finished Spring and Autumn series.

From KEO Films, the show features British celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall providing insight on locally produced, seasonal foods. Both series were sold to RaiSat in Italy and Spektrum in Hungary and Czech Republic. In Australia, XYZ secured the first window and ABC the second. Prime in New Zealand has also signed up for the cookery series. In France, Cuisine TV went for both series as well as the Christmas one-off special.

Also on Outright’s slate is Uncorked, about having an everyday appreciation for wine. Presented by Australian cricketer and noted wine enthusiast Stuart MacGill, the series explores six prominent wine-growing regions. Outright has international rights to both series—the first 6×30 minutes and the second 8×30 minutes in HD.

Chris Bonney, the CEO of Outright Distribution, commented: "The success of these programs seems to be in part due to a focus on the presenter and personality of the show and their relationship with the people participating in the program. Demand still seems to be growing strongly and programs in this genre are still being commissioned, for example we will have at least two new series of the River Cottage titles this year."
