Original South Park Pilot Gets Online Premiere

NEW YORK: The rarely seen, original hand-made pilot of Comedy Central’s animated hit South Park will be made available on an ad-supported basis for just 30 days on South Park Digital Studios’ website.

The site, southparkstudios.com, is a joint venture of the show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Comedy Central.  The original pilot—the basis for the award-winning premiere episode "Cartman Gets An Anal Probe"—includes four minutes of additional footage that never made it to air when the episode debuted in 1997. The pilot was made by hand on construction paper and was animated primarily by Stone and Parker. It launches on the site today and is on offer for free, supported by advertising.

The site also features new South Park material ahead of the October 7 mid-season premiere. Southparkstudios.com houses full episodes and clips of every episode, plus behind-the-scenes information from all 12 seasons.
