ORF Lands Asian Agreements

VIENNA, December 17: Austrian
pubcaster ORF closed a number of deals at this year's Asia TV Forum in
Singapore, including a package of 29 documentaries sold to Ho Chi Minh City TV
(HTV).

In the way of classical
music productions, ORF sold Christmas in Vienna, featuring the Vienna's Boys Choir, to iPlanet
Korea and Good TV Taiwan. The Light of the Future was picked up by Wuhan TV. CSTV Taiwan is making a
deal for 50 hours of HD content for its IPTV/VOD services. CCTV took on the
Emmy Award-winning mini-series Nature Tech: How Engineers are Inspired by
Nature's Design
.

Documentaries from ORF's
Universum strand, including the docudrama Genghis Khan, are slated to launch on Singapore Airlines this
month.

"The new venue at
Suntec brought more clients to the market and to the stand," said Beatrice Riesenfelder, the head of sales and acquisitions at ORF.
"The venue was ideally located and we hope for ATF to become even more
crowded with buyers and sellers next year. The ASEAN countries have accounted
for the biggest growth of ORF sales in the past two years. We hope that this
trend continues in spite of the financial crisis."
