LAUSANNE: The International Olympic Committee will launch the Olympic Channel on August 21, following the Closing Ceremony at the Rio Games.

The digital platform will be accessible worldwide via iOS and Android apps and online at olympicchannel.com. The destination is intended to deliver continuous coverage of Olympic sports and athletes. It will also serve as a platform to share the IOC archives. The Olympic Channel will deliver original programming, live events, news and highlights. It will initially be offered in English, but the IOC intends to develop relationships with rights holders of the games and National Olympic Committees to develop localized versions of the Olympic Channel.

Thomas Bach, the president of the IOC, noted, “The launch of the Olympic Channel on August 21 is the start of an exciting new journey to connect the worldwide audience with the Olympic Movement all year round. Fans will be able to follow sports, athletes and the stories behind the Olympic Games. The Olympic Channel will inspire us all and reach out to new generations of athletes and fans.””
