Ofcom: Freeview Coverage Will Remain Incomplete

LONDON, December 8: British media regulator Ofcom has said
that ten percent of U.K. households will not have access to DTT service
Freeview’s full suite of channels following the 2012 analogue switch off.

Three of the six Freeview “bundles” will not be available to
one in ten homes, Ofcom has said. The bundles of public-service channels,
including BBC One, ITV1 and Channel 4, will be available to 98.5 percent of the
country. The remaining commercial channel bundles, with networks such as UKTV
History and Cartoon Network, however, will only reach 90 percent. At present,
the commercial multiplexes reach 73 percent of British homes.
